Mexico registered the arrival of 5.2 million international visitors by air in the first five months of 2013, an increase of nearly 7.6% over the same period a year ago.
Figures released by the Tourism Secretariat also revealed that the U.S. remained the main tourist market for Mexico, providing 2.8 million visitors from January through May, which was 7.2% above the same period in 2012.
Other visitor markets included Canada, Britain, Argentina and Brazil.
Mexico welcomed more than 23 million international visitors in 2012 and took in more than $11 billion in tourism revenues.
